What You'll Learn
Aussie Conditions
Look, March might be the start of Autumn, but we both know the UV is still brutal enough to peel the paint off a Hills Hoist. After 15 years in the game, I've seen too many decent daily drivers ruined by sun fade and salt. This checklist is what I use to prep cars for a long season of coastal runs or outback dust. Grab a cold one and let's get into it.

What You'll Need
The Protection Process
Pre-Rinse & Underbody Flush
Blast off the loose dust and salt spray. If you've been near the coast or on dirt, spend extra time under the arches and the chassis.
Two-Bucket Wash
Start from the roof and work down. Use your two buckets to ensure you aren't just moving dirt around. Rinse often so the soap doesn't dry.
Clay Bar (If needed)
Run your hand over the paint. If it feels like sandpaper, use a clay bar with plenty of lubricant. It'll pull out that embedded outback red dust.
Dry Thoroughly
Use a large drying towel. Don't leave water spots to dry in the sun, they're a nightmare to remove once they've etched in.
Apply Sealant/Ceramic Wax
Apply your UV protection product one panel at a time. A little goes a long way. Buff it off immediately with a clean microfibre until it’s slick.
Dress the Trim
Wipe 303 onto your window seals, wipers, and plastic bumpers. This stops them turning that nasty chalky grey colour. Honestly, don't skip this part.
Tyre & Wheel Protection
Apply tyre shine and, if you're feeling keen, a bit of that paint sealant on the wheel faces to help shed brake dust and salt.
